The
PADI Assistant
Instructor Course (AI)

The
PADI Assistant Instructor Course is already your first step
in your PADI Instructor Development career. This new level
opens a wide new range of reponsibilities to you.
Beyond the
responsibilities and duties you already have as renewed
PADI Divemaster,
(and insured, where applicable) PADI Assistant Instructors
(certified/upgraded since 1995) are authorized to:
1. Present the academic elaboration for any PADI Diver course
under the
< indirect supervision of
a PADI Instructor. The PADI Instructor must
< personally assess student
knowledge development (i.e. review Knowledge
< Reviews, administer and
review Quizzes and Final Exams.)
2. During confined water dives, present initial skills training
under the
< direct supervision of
a PADI Instructor.
3.Conduct open water surface skill evaluations during Open
Water Diver
< course training dives
under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor.
4. Teach and certify PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty
Divers
< under the direction of
a PADI Instructor. A Teaching Status PADI
< Instructor must be available
for consultation during the course, although
< not necessarily present
during training sessions. The instructor must
< cosign the student diver
log books and Training Record sheets after
< verifying that all performance
requirements are met.
< NOTE: The instructor who
cosigns the log book may certify the diver as an Adventure
< Diver or Advanced Open
Water Diver if the Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive is the
final
< dive needed for that certification.
5. Independently teach the Project AWARE (nondiving) Specialty
course.
6. Independently teach the AWARE - Coral Reef Conservation
(nondiving)
< Specialty course.
7. Independently conduct Discover Scuba Diving in a pool
or confined water
< environment.
8. Independently conduct PADI Seal Team Aqua Missions.
9. Teach and certify divers in a specialty courses that don’t include dives after successful
< completion of Specialty Instructor Training courses for such specialties.
10. After completing the corresponding instructor training, conduct:
< a. Digital Underwater Photographer specialty courses under the direction of a PADI < < < < Instructor.
< b. Emergency Oxygen Provider courses.
AI Prerequesites, Requirements, Duration
& Materials
AI
Prerequesits:
1.<Be
at least 18 years old.
2.<Be
certified as a PADI Divemaster or hold a leadership level
certification with
<<another recreational
diver training organization.
3.<Be
fit for diving and submit a medical statement not older
than one year,
<<including the date
of the IE. A licensed physician must sign the form and state
that
<< you are fit for diving.
The physician signing the form may not be the applicant.
9.<(Please make sure that
your medical statement is valid for the IE, too).
4.<Certified
diver for at least 6 months + 60 logged open water scuba
dives.
<< Have documentation
of experience in deep, night and navigation diving.
5.<Submit
proof of CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.
6.<Submit
documentation of any equivalent certification for entry-level,
advanced,
<< rescue and leadership-level
issued by another recreational diver training organization.
7. <If not a PADI Divemaster,
successfully complete the PADI Divemaster Course diver rescue <<<skill assessment.
Requirements,
Duration & Materials
Paperwork
you have to bring with you:
1.<Medical
statement that you are fit for diving, not older then 1
year including
< the dater of the IE.
2.<Logbook
with at least 60 open water dives logged.
3.<All
PADI certificates or equivalent in original.
4.<At
least two passportsized photos of you.
5.<Prove of CPR/First Aid
not older then 24 months.
Duration:
4-5 days, depending on the Dive
Center.
In case eLearning is used for the first two days the course duration is only 3 days.

Diving
Equipment:
Mask, Snorkel, Fins, BCD with inflator, weightbelt or integrated
weight pockets with a quick release, Regulator INT or DIN
Adapter, Alternate airsource, Pressure gauge, Wetsuit, Watch
& depth gauge or Diving computer, Compass, Diving knife,
UW-Slate, Divetable, Emergency Signal device (visual and
acustic) and a poket mask.
