First Response Instructor Update
"Care for Children"

"Care for Children" - Instructor Updates are
conducted on the second day of the EFR Instructor Program.

In 2003 PADI reacted to the strong demand of their PADI
Members, to release an additional CPR / First Aid Program
for Children between 0- 8 years.
This course is especially valuable for diving and non
diving families with young children and infants, and/or
for people who have frequent contact to children due to
their profession or recreational activities.
Emergency
First Response Instructors can participate in this Instructor
Update and continue their education, to be able to cover
"CPR / First Aid" skills for all stage groups
in the future.
The following skills are taught for infants and children:
- Primary Assessment - ABCD's
- Choking
- Rescue Breathing
- One-Rescuer-CPR
- Serious Bleedings
- Shock Management
- Spine Injuries
- AED
- Injury - Assessment
- Illness - Assessment
- Bandaging and Splinting

Duration:
depending on the amount
of applicants: 4-6 hours

EFR "Care for Children" Student Manual
Other languages,
such as dutch, french, italian, german etc. are expected
to be translated by 2008.
